Position: Preschool Paraprofessional - 7 hours

Preschool Paraprofessional

The Preschool Paraprofessional at IB Perrine Elementary School plays a vital role in supporting the educational and developmental needs of young children in a preschool setting. This position involves working closely with teachers and staff to create a nurturing and engaging environment that fosters learning and growth. The ideal candidate will be patient, compassionate, and dedicated to promoting the social, emotional, and cognitive development of preschool-aged children.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and activities that align with curriculum goals.
  • Support individual and small group instruction to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Monitor and supervise children during classroom activities, playtime, and transitions to ensure safety and positive behavior.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with the teacher to assess student progress and identify areas for additional support.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in early childhood education.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as preparing materials and maintaining student records.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their social and emotional development.

Requirements:

  • 2 years of college, an AA degree, or successfully completed the Para Pro Assessment (Praxis Exam).
  • Experience working with children is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of behavior management strategies and techniques.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Ability to remain patient, calm, and supportive in challenging situations.
  • Willingness to undergo background checks and comply with school district policies and procedures.
