Special Education Teacher
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Robert Stuart Middle School. In this full-time position, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they receive the individualized instruction and assistance necessary to thrive academically and socially. You will collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters growth and development for all students.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with disabilities in both resource and inclusion settings.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to accommodate students with special needs.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and progress toward IEP goals.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student needs and coordinate services.
- Implement behavioral interventions and support strategies to promote positive behavior and social skills.
- Stay current with special education laws, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
- Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in the field of special education.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field;
Master's degree preferred. - Valid state teaching license with endorsement in Special Education.
- Proven experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in a middle school setting.
- Strong understanding of various learning disabilities and effective instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student engagement and learning.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing student records and IEP documentation.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about advancements in special education.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
