Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Canyon Ridge High School. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs. This full‑time position requires a collaborative approach to teaching and the ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet the individual needs of students.
The Special Education Teacher will work closely with students, parents, and other educators to promote academic success and personal growth.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications are in place.
- Assess student progress and adapt instructional methods to enhance learning outcomes.
- Provide direct instruction in academic and life skills to students with varying disabilities.
- Create a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of student performance and progress.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student achievements and challenges.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student needs and progress.
- Stay current with best practices in special education and participate in ongoing professional development.
- Foster a culture of respect and understanding among all students, promoting inclusivity and diversity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field;
Master’s degree preferred. - Valid state teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in a high school setting.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators, parents, and support staff.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Proficiency in technology and educational software relevant to special education.
