English Language Arts And Reading Teacher

South Hills Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to join our team as a full-time English Language Arts and Reading teacher for 6th grade. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop their reading and writing skills while fostering a love for literature and critical thinking. This position requires a commitment to creating a positive and engaging learning environment that supports the diverse needs of all students.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with state standards and promotes literacy and language skills.
• Create lesson plans that are engaging, interactive, and tailored to meet the varying needs of students.
• Assess student progress through a variety of methods, including tests, projects, and presentations, and provide constructive feedback.
• Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and respect for diverse perspectives.
• Integrate technology and multimedia resources into the curriculum to enhance learning experiences.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and trends in English Language Arts.
• Collaborate with fellow educators, staff, and administration to support school initiatives and enhance student learning.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
• Valid teaching certification in English Language Arts for middle school.
• Proven experience teaching English Language Arts at the middle school level is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of middle school curriculum and instructional strategies.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
• Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance student learning.
• Commitment to fostering a growth mindset and encouraging student engagement.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the community.
