Robert Stuart Middle School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Paraprofessional - Student Support on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will work closely with students, teachers, and support staff to create a positive learning environment and assist students with diverse needs. This role is vital in promoting academic success and fostering social and emotional growth among students.
Responsibilities- Assist teachers in implementing instructional plans and adapting materials for individual student needs.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, reinforcing lessons and promoting engagement.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
- Help create a safe and inclusive classroom environment by implementing positive behavior management strategies.
- Support students with special needs in accordance with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 plans.
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents to ensure a collaborative approach to student support.
- Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, and other administrative tasks as required.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to student support.
- High school diploma or equivalent;
Requires two years of college, an AA degree, or successfully completed the Para Pro Assessment (Praxis Exam). - Experience working with middle school-aged children, particularly those with diverse learning needs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed academically and socially.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow directions from teachers and administrators.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
- Availability to work part-time hours, including flexibility to accommodate school schedules and events.
This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The employment “at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and approved by the Board of Trustees of District 411.
All recommendations for hire are tentative offers. Employment is contingent upon board approval, and successful completion of a federal background check and drug-free workplace pre-employment screening.
