The Work-Based Learning Coordinator is responsible for delivering career support and consistent communication with students to ensure a positive learning experience. The ideal candidate should have excellent organizational skills and the ability to help individuals make informed career decisions by listening, communicating, and problem solving. - Connect with students and reinforce their potential while holding them accountable.
- Be comfortable working autonomously, yet able to collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure that projects stay on track and objectives are met.
- Be a creative problem-solver and can quickly devise innovative solutions to challenges.
- Have excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to think outside of the box.
- Identify problems, produce potential solutions, and then accurately assess those solutions.
- Be comfortable presenting in front of classroom settings or multiple groups of students at one time.
Key Accountabilities
- Career Coaching Sessions:
Provide meaningful career coaching sessions to help students, alumni, and other community members develop a career plan. - Student Support:
Utilize career tools to help individuals explore a career pathway. Interpret Career Assessments and evaluate student's career plan. Assist students in the utilization of various career development tools. - Student Retention:
Regular and consistent follow-up with Apprenticeship students to ensure a positive learning experience. Consistently look for ways to improve the overall experience. Track student retention and propose improvements to meet targeted goals. - Career/Hiring Events:
As directed by Work-Based Learning Manager, participate in the development of career fairs based on need/demand from industry. - Internship Connection:
Meet with CSI students to properly vet for internship positions and make employer connection. Ensure student has strong Linked In profile and resume. Deploy MOU agreements between employer, student, and Work-Based Learning Manager. - Resume Assistance:
Work one-on-one with students to edit, rewrite, or format resumes and cover letters that best represent their career goals and achievements. Conduct resume workshops with a step-by-step process for creating an effective resume. - Mock Interviews:
Support students by providing an opportunity to practice an interview, receive valuable feedback, and improve their skills. Provide constructive feedback on interview strategies, communication skills, and how to answer challenging questions. - Job Post Requests:
Screen and process job posting requests with companies to verify opportunity is local to the Magic Valley. Review all job forms for accuracy and detailed information before being posted. - Collaboration and Connection:
Work collaboratively with various departments across campus to assist students' seamless transition from classroom to career. - Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of student and employer interactions in CRM systems. - Team Core Values and Culture:

Qualifications
Education and/or experience that demonstrates the following
- Previous student advising or coordinating experience preferred.
- Ability to cultivate meaningful connections with students and employers to understand needs and obstacles and propose an effective solution.
- Great at planning, scheduling, and reporting.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Strong, professional communication skills, both written and verbal. Friendly, clear communications with the ability to present, listen, and understand.
- Flexible and willing to perform other tasks as needed.
- Problem Solving – must be able to identify problems and solutions with proactive ways to solve them.
