About our Legislative Accountability Coordinator position

What will you be doing!
The Legislative Accountability Coordinator (LAC) will spend approximately 18 weeks at 20 hours per week monitoring legislative activity, tracking lawmaker actions, and compiling legislative votes during the legislative process in AK, HI, , IN, KY, and WA. This role tracks and reviews voting records, bill sponsorship, public statements, and committee actions on issues relevant to Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates’ policies and positions.
The LAC will work under the supervision of the Public Policy Manager, with additional guidance from the PPAA State Directors and the Vice President of Policy & Strategy.

Participating in Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates’ public affairs and electoral work can gain the skills to work for well-respected progressive non-profit organizations. In addition to being a leadership development opportunity to develop research skills and legislative processes, LAC is a paid position.
Qualifications:
- Commitment and desire to support reproductive and LGBTQ+ health and rights
- Well-organized, self-motivated, and high attention to detail
- Familiarity with state legislative processes; experience tracking local, state, and/or federal legislation, hearings, and committee activities a plus
- Understanding of legislative processes and governmental structures
- Team player and good independent worker
- Ability to prepare clear, data-driven, and accurate reports, scorecards, and dashboards for assessing legislator actions
- Demonstrated ability to use discretion and work with sensitive information
Salary Range:
Non-exempt - $25 per hour.
Position Type:
Temporary – March to July - 18 weeks at 20 hours per week: including several nights and weekends. Access to a cell phone and laptop/computer are needed. This position can be done remotely. Preference for candidates located in Washington or Alaska.
Benefits Eligibility:
This position is not eligible for PPGNHAIK benefits. As part of our total compensation, we provide a comprehensive benefits plan including medical, dental and vision plans, retirement, paid time off, short and long-term disability and life insurance. Other Information:
All new hires are strongly recommended to have the COVID-19 vaccination, including boosters. All new hires hired between September and April must present proof of receiving a current flu shot.
