Job Details
• Acute care hospital setting with a Level III Trauma designation,
• Respiratory Therapy department covering inpatient floors, ICU, stepdown, med/surg, a small peds unit, and the ER,
• Patient population ranges from NICU to geriatrics; no PICU on site,
• Up to 30 respiratory treatments per shift depending on season; workload is divided by floor rather than points,
• Equipment includes Dräger vents, Cervo NICU vent, Hamilton transport vent, Vapotherm, Philips V60, and V30,
• Charting system:
Epic,
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (6 PM-6 AM),
• Every other weekend required,
• Holiday coverage required based on facility need,
• Floating required across ICU, floors, NICU, and ER,
• 13-week contract,
Job Requirements
• Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience,
• NICU experience required,
• CRT or RRT credential required,
• Active certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and S.T.A.B.L.E.; NRP required for those handling NICU/neonatal patients,
• Epic EMR experience,
• Ability to draw and analyze ABGs, manage BiPAP, CPAP, and mechanical ventilators, and assist with bedside bronchoscopy and intubation,
• State license required if applicable - must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted,
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire,
• Valid driver's license required,
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply,
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible,
Additional Information
• Duties include ABG draws and analysis, breathing treatments, BiPAP/CPAP management, mechanical ventilation, assisting with intubation, and potential LMA placement; EKGs are not performed,
• A team lead or charge therapist is always present on shift; travelers may be asked to take a charge role depending on experience and willingness,
• Travelers will never be the only RT in-house,
• A team lead or supervisor is on every shift,
• Orientation is approximately 1 week, adjusted based on experience,
• Attendance at one department meeting per month is required,
• Self-scheduling is available; however, no block scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accepted,
• Hunter green scrubs are required and are not provided by the facility,
• Former permanent employees of this facility must have been away for at least one year before applying for a travel assignment,
