Number of treatments per day may vary depending on the season.
No more than 30 treatments are expected per shift.
Workload may be heavier at times, depending on the floor.
Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, PALS, CRT or RRT, and STABLE.
NRP is only required for NICU or for those handling infants.
Types of patients include NICU to geriatrics, ICU, stepdown, Med Surg, and a small pediatric unit.
No PICU and level III NICU experience is required.
Vent use is infrequent.
The role covers inpatient and emergency room areas.
Required skills include drawing and analyzing ABGs, administering breathing treatments, BiPAP, CPAP, and ventilator management.
Ability to assist with bedside bronchoscopies is beneficial.
Respiratory Therapists are required to assist with intubations and may place an LMA.
There is always a team lead or charge therapist on each shift.
Travelers may be designated as charge therapists based on their experience and willingness.
Travelers will never be the only Respiratory Therapist in-house.
Equipment used includes Drager vents, Cervo-NICU, Hamilton transport vent, Vapotherm, Philips V60, and V30.
Scheduling is for 12-hour shifts from 6 PM to 6 AM.
Self-scheduling and block scheduling are available.
Attendance at department meetings once a month is mandatory.
Weekend work is required every other weekend.
Holiday work may be required based on need.
Call or standby call requirements are low census per contract.
Floating may be required to ICU, floors, NICU, and emergency room.
Dress code includes wearing hunter green scrubs, which are not provided.
Orientation is one week and will be based on experience.
