Will have a fundamental understanding of lab science concepts to conduct initial laboratory testing and analysis of food products. In addition this individual ensures the working area is equipped, sanitized, and fully operational.
Essential Functions- Laboratory testing and analysis of dairy powders, foods and supplements for moisture, fat, protein, ash, lactose with ability to be trained for more advanced analytical testing by immunoassay, HPLC, AA, mass spectroscopy etc.
- Prepare experimental reports and document results. Provide input, observations, and recommendations for improved testing, efficiency of testing and function of the analytical laboratory.
- Maintain operations of the analytical lab including keeping lab area and equipment clean and operational according to cleaning and operational instructions.
- Follow analytical procedures with exactness, timeliness, and accuracy.
- Maintain inventory of needed supplies and ingredients and procure the same as required.
- Prepare periodic reports about results of laboratory tests.
- Work courteously and tactfully with R&D team, laboratory clients, the public and other employees.
- Work independently with little or no supervision once training is completed, complete work assignments on time and adjust priorities as required.
- Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act applicable to their actions and conduct.
- Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Administration, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Regular and timely attendance required.
- Must possess any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and 3 years of experience in a food testing laboratory, associate’s degree focused on lab science, or 5 years of laboratory testing experience.
- The candidate must be energetic and possess good report writing, analytical and communication skills.
- The candidate must have experience with basic testing of foods, supplements or nutritional products.
- The candidate should have experience using Microsoft Office software including Word and Excel.
- Ability to operate (or learn to operate) necessary equipment.
- Excellent record required in safety, attendance, and punctuality.
- Ability to stand and walk the entire shift if needed.
- Ability to read and write instructions in English.
- Knowledge of the proper use of all cleaning chemicals.
- Must be able to work weekends and overtime as required.

Environmental Conditions
- May be exposed to noise levels 85+ requiring hearing protection.
