Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Whole Store Runs Through Parts. We're Hiring Two People to Help Us Run It.

Twin Falls Subaru is adding two people to our parts team, and we'll be straight with you about the job: it moves. A tech needs a part right now because the car is on the lift. A customer is on the phone doing their best to describe a clip they don't know the name of. A special order just came in and two people are waiting on it.

If that sounds like chaos, this probably isn't your seat. If it sounds like a shift that goes by fast, keep reading.

Here's the thing about the parts counter: it's the hinge point of the whole dealership. Nothing in the shop moves without you, and a good chunk of what customers think about us gets decided right at your counter. It matters, and the people who get good at it tend to build long careers in this business.

We're open on experience. If you've run a parts counter before, great, we'll pay you for it. If you haven't but you're organized, quick on a computer, and genuinely good with people, we'll teach you the rest.

What You'd Actually Be Doing

A typical day is some mix of this:

  • Helping walk-in and phone customers find the right part, including the folks who can only describe it with their hands
  • Looking up parts in the Subaru catalog and our system, and getting the number right the first time
  • Pulling and staging parts for our technicians so jobs keep moving and cars don’t sit on the lift waiting
  • Placing special orders, tracking them, and following our special order parts process, so we can call the customer before they have to call us
  • Receiving stock, checking it in against the order, and putting it where it actually belongs
  • Keeping the shelves, bins, and back counter organized, because a messy parts room costs everybody time & money
  • Handling returns, cores, and credits cleanly so nothing gets lost
  • Helping with inventory counts and speaking up about what we should be stocking more of (including tracking lost sales)
  • Working shoulder to shoulder with our service advisors and techs all day long

This is a counter job, start to finish. You're not running warranty claims and you're not out making delivery runs. You get to be good at one thing.

Why the Parts Counter Is a Good Seat
  • You're the person everybody needs. Techs, advisors, and customers all come to you. That gets old for some people and it's the best part of the job for others. We're looking for the second kind.
  • No two days are the same. Counter work, phone work, ordering, receiving, and organizing. If you hate sitting still, this beats a desk.
  • You're inside and out of the weather. Not a small thing in a Magic Valley winter, or summer.
  • We'll actually train you. Paid Subaru parts and product training, so you learn these cars properly instead of guessing.
  • There's somewhere to go. Senior parts, wholesale, parts manager. We'd rather promote someone who already knows our store.
  • You won't be the only new face. We're filling two seats at once, so you'll learn alongside someone else instead of being the lone new person.
The Pay

Competitive, and based on what you bring. Here's how we think about it:

  • If you've worked a parts counter before, at a dealership, a national parts house, or an independent shop, you'll be paid for that experience starting day one.
  • If you're newer to parts but sharp and organized, we'll start you fair and grow your pay as you learn the catalog and get faster on the counter.
  • The more you can handle on your own, the more you're worth to this store, and we pay accordingly.
The Schedule

Full time, and worth reading closely, because it's better than what most parts counters in this business offer:

  • You'll start on our 8:00 to 5:00 shift. That's where new hires begin, so you're learning the counter with the most people around to help.
  • We also run a 9:00 to 6:00 shift. Once you know the catalog and can handle the counter on your own, you'll start rotating through those too. It's an hour's difference, and it's a sign we trust you to run the place without a net.
  • Saturdays rotate three ways. One month you'll work Tuesday through Saturday, with Mondays off. The next two months you're straight Monday through Friday. That works out to about four months a year…
