As a Public Works Operator for the City of Twin Falls, you will perform a wide range of skilled and semi-skilled work supporting the City's essential infrastructure. This role supports multiple Public Works divisions, including Streets, Water Distribution, Water Supply, and Wastewater Collections. Operators play a critical role in maintaining safe roadways, reliable water systems, and effective wastewater and stormwater operations for the community.
In this hands-on position, you'll operate equipment, perform maintenance and repair work, respond to service requests and emergencies, and work closely with supervisors, lead operators, and other City departments to keep City services running safely and efficiently.

Description
As a Public Works Operator, you will:
* Operate light, medium, and heavy equipment to support construction, maintenance, and repair of City infrastructure
* Perform maintenance and repair work related to streets, water distribution systems, water supply facilities, and wastewater and stormwater systems
* Assist with installation, inspection, and repair of underground utilities, valves, hydrants, meters, pumps, mains, and service lines
* Respond to service calls, emergencies, and after-hours incidents on a rotating on-call basis
* Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, tools, buildings, and facilities
* Assist with excavation, patching, paving, drainage maintenance, and system cleaning
* Load, unload, transport, and properly dispose of materials, debris, and equipment
* Accurately complete work orders, reports, inspections, and required documentation
* Communicate with supervisors regarding work progress, issues, and improvement opportunities
* Interact with the public in a courteous and professional manner
* Follow all City policies, procedures, and safety practices
* Perform related duties as required

At this time, the City of Twin Falls is actively recruiting Public Works Operators for the following areas:
* Street Operator
* Water Operator(s)

Pay & Benefits
* $20.52-$23.02 per hour ($42,677-$51,216 annually), depending on experience
* Full-time, non-exempt position

Hiring Bonus
The City of Twin Falls offers a hiring bonus for Public Works Operators based on Idaho licensure at the time of hire. The total bonus is paid in two installments.
Bonus amounts by licensure:
* Class I Drinking Water Distribution Operator: $1,500 total
* Class II Drinking Water Distribution Operator: $2,000 total
* Class III Drinking Water Distribution Operator: $2,500 total
Payout schedule:
* 50% paid at the end of the employee's first pay period
* 50% paid after six (6) months of successful employment
To receive the full hiring bonus, employees must remain in good standing through the six-month payout period.
What We're Looking For
* High school diploma or GED
* Experience working with construction, utilities, maintenance, or heavy equipment preferred
* Ability to operate equipment and hand tools safely and effectively
* Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with the public
* Willingness to learn new skills, equipment, and certifications
* Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding work
Required Qualifications
* Valid State of Idaho driver's license
* Ability to obtain required licenses and certifications within designated time frames, which may include:
* Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements
* Water Distribution or Wastewater Collection Operator licenses
* Flagger certification
* Ability to participate in a rotating on-call schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
* Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and driving record review
* Residency requirements may apply depending on assignment and emergency response needs
