Streets Operator

As the next Streets Operator for the City of Twin Falls, you will play an important role in maintaining safe, reliable, and well-kept streets, right-of-ways, and drainage areas throughout the community. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, operating equipment, solving problems, working outdoors, and being part of a high-performing public service team.

In this important role, you will operate a variety of trucks, equipment, and tools to support street construction, repair, and maintenance projects. You will help maintain pavement, signage, striping, storm drains, gravel roads, alleys, and other public infrastructure that Twin Falls residents and visitors rely on every day.

As a Streets Operator, you will:

  • Operate a variety of motorized, heavy, and handheld equipment to haul materials, repair pavement, and perform street maintenance activities
  • Maintain operating equipment such as loaders, sweepers, trucks, trailers, rollers, and related tools and machinery
  • Assist with the installation and maintenance of signs within Twin Falls City limits
  • Assist with painting turn lanes, pedestrian crossings, school crossings, and other roadway markings
  • Patch potholes and perform asphalt repair on worn or damaged roadways
  • Perform duties related to pavement work, sanding and plowing streets during winter weather, maintaining gravel roads and alleys, resurfacing roads, maintaining storm drains, and removing trees or debris
  • Load and unload equipment, materials, refuse, and construction-related products
  • Remove deteriorating asphalt and assist with patching, sealing, and asphalt repair work
  • Clean and clear stormwater inlets, drains, bridges, creeks, and drainage areas
  • Provide information and demonstrations to new employees performing similar work tasks
  • Serve seven days on-call on a rotating basis to respond to after-hours or emergency calls
  • Keep supervisors and designated staff informed about work progress, current or potential problems, and possible improvements
  • Respond to citizen questions, concerns, and requests in a courteous and timely manner
  • Communicate and coordinate with coworkers, supervisors, and other City staff to support effective and efficient City operations
  • Perform related duties as assigned

$20.52 – $24.62 per hour ($42,681 – $51,209 annually), depending on experience

Full-time, non-exempt position, pay grade 6

Ability to follow safety rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions

Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions and around traffic, equipment, and construction-related hazards

Ability to respond to citizen requests in a courteous, respectful, and effective manner

Ability to remain professional during stressful situations

Ability to build effective working relationships with the public, coworkers, supervisors, and other City staff

Ability to learn new skills quickly and adapt to changing information, technology, equipment, and work needs

Ability to make sound decisions in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations, and established procedures

Ability to complete a wide variety of duties accurately and efficiently under time-sensitive deadlines
