Job Overview

Idaho Power – Twin Falls, Idaho – is seeking a temporary Construction Equipment Operator II to join our Customer Operations team. This position, with an hourly rate of $44.74 - $53.89, is non‑exempt and scheduled to run from 07/13/2026 to 02/05/2027.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a variety of heavy and construction equipment (mini‑excavators, skid steers, backhoes, trucks, trailers, etc.) under the direction of the Foreman.
  • Assist with line work including overhead power line construction, setting poles, pulling wire, and building pads.
  • Perform construction groundwork when equipment is not in use and follow scheduled tasks.
  • Maintain accurate, legible records and assist/train other operators.
  • Travel throughout the Idaho Power Company service area and work overtime, including hitches, overnight stays, and emergency response as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 4 years recent experience operating mini‑excavators, skid steers, trucks & trailers, and backhoes.
  • Knowledge of dig line rules, grades and elevations, equipment operation & care, safety procedures, traffic laws, DOT regulations, ANSI/OSHA rules, and hazmat transport requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Current or obtainable DOT medical card, FMCSA 49 CFR Part 383 Class A CDL, State‑issued hazardous materials endorsement (within 90 days), tanker (N) and double‑triple (T) endorsements, Idaho Power Road Test (within 30 days), and crane certification (within 90 days).
  • Background check clearance to handle explosives (ATF).
Physical & Environmental Requirements
  • Lift or carry up to 150 lbs.; lift up to 120 lbs. to shoulder or overhead; climb 8‑ft ladders; daily manual handling on uneven or loose terrain.
  • Periodic drilling or packing on steep or rock faces.
  • Operate heavy equipment in various weather and terrain conditions.
Additional Information
  • Must be ready to travel, work hitches, overtime, and respond to emergencies outside normal hours.
  • Employee Possessor Questionnaire and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms certification required; failure to obtain may result in termination.
  • Temporary classification; future internal placement as a regular employee possible.
