Idaho Power – located in Twin Falls, Idaho – is looking for a temporary Construction Equipment Operator II to join our Customer Operations team. This role involves operating a variety of heavy and construction equipment, reporting to the Foreman, assisting with line work, and performing other construction‑related groundwork as needed.

• Operate heavy construction equipment including mini‑excavators, skid steers, backhoes, trucks, and trailers.
• Assist with line work, road building, pad landings, and other tasks as directed by the Foreman.
• Maintain accurate, neat records of work performed, including hitches, overtime, and daily logs.
• Assist and train other operators as needed.

• Knowledge of:
  • Dig line rules
  • Grades and elevations
  • Function, operation, and care of common construction equipment
  • Hazards and safety precautions, traffic laws, ordinances, and rules
  • Material requests
  • DOT transportation regulations and hazmat transportation
  • ANSI, OSHA rules and regulations
• Skills in:
  • Basic use of personal computers, including email
  • Verbal and written communication
• Ability to:
  • Work under direct supervision or be self‑directed
  • Collaborate with different foremen and crews
  • Establish effective working relationships
  • Travel and work throughout the IPC service area
  • Use good judgment and initiative for problem resolution
  • Work hitches and overtime as needed and maintain records
  • Follow oral and written instructions
  • Assist and train other operators

• Education:
  
  High school diploma or GED
• Experience:
  
  4+ years recent experience using mini‑excavators, skid steers, trucks & trailers, and backhoes
• Preferred:
  Building overhead power lines, setting poles, pulling wire, building roads and pad landings, and running various pieces of equipment including excavators, backhoes, dozers, rope trucks, and tensioners

• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• DOT medical card or ability to obtain prior to hire
• Current DOT FMCSA 49 CFR Part 383 Class A CDL or ability to obtain prior to hire
• State‑issued Hazardous Materials endorsement within 90 days of hire
• Tanker (N) and double‑triple (T) endorsements and completion of Idaho Power road test within 30 days of hire
• Crane certification or ability to obtain within 90 days

Lifting/carrying up to 150 lbs. occasionally and 50‑75 lbs. frequently to knuckle height. Lifting up to 120 lbs. to shoulder/overhead occasionally. Carrying up to 150 ft. on uneven terrain. Climbing 8‑foot ladders and onto/from trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment. Drilling/packing onto steep surfaces. Pushing 130 lbs. and pulling 110 lbs. occasionally. Use of hand tools and safe fall restraints. Shoveling for stemming.

Pre‑employment physical evaluation for DOT medical certificate required.

• Additional safety‑related training may be required.
• Respond to emergencies beyond normal working hours across the IPC service area.
• Works overtime at the discretion of the supervisor.
• Must attend and successfully complete the earliest scheduled crane certification class.
• Must pass ATF background check to handle explosives.
