Adult Protection Services Investigator

Perform Adult Protection services for the Office on Aging. Services include investigation, assessment, and coordination of Adult Protection caseload, and crisis intervention. Documentation and maintenance of casework in the Get Care Database in a timely manner is mandatory.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Investigates allegations of adult abuse, neglect, self-neglect, or exploitation according to ICOA & OOA standards and Idaho State Statute.
  • Assesses the situation, considering the client's wishes, assets, deficits, needs, and natural supports.
  • Coordinate multi-agency staffing when appropriate, to facilitate client protection and supportive service planning, and make appropriate service referrals.
  • Determines the need for legal action, at the time of the investigation. Court testimony may be required.
  • Establishes and maintains a working relationship with community agencies. (e.g., law enforcement, courts, Dept. of Health & Welfare, etc.)
  • Documents investigations in Get Care Database according to current Adult Protection procedures.

Other Duties:

  • Attends required meetings (staff, supervision, etc.)
  • Participated in training to enhance professional skills.
  • Represent Adult Protection at various community meetings and provides education to increase community awareness of Adult Protection Services.
  • Additional related responsibilities as assigned by the Adult Protection Manager

Qualifications:

  • A social worker licensed to practice in Idaho; or an individual with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) in a human services field or equivalent and at least two (2) years' experience in direct service delivery to vulnerable adults; or an individual with an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree and at least two (2) years' experience in law enforcement.

Working conditions/physical requirements:

  • Office environment, on-site visitation to private residences, licensed facilities, etc. Working hours might include some evenings.
