Job Description & How to Apply Below
For a century, SSP has advanced fittings, valves, and tubing systems as the industry’s largest single-site, vertically integrated manufacturer. As a third-generation, privately held company and a recognized Top Workplace, we invest in people, technology, and processes—guided by our TRUE values:
Truthfulness, Resourcefulness, Unity, and Execution.
As an AS9100 Aerospace Quality Assurance Inspector, you’ll be the last line of defense between precision-machined components and our customers’ most demanding aerospace applications. Your craft ensures every manifold, valve, fitting, and tubing assembly meets blueprint, customer, and regulatory expectations.
A day in the life
You arrive for your chosen shift, gear up, and review job packets. First up: a first article inspection (FAI) on a newly released part. You interpret GD&T on engineering prints, set up on the surface plate, and move methodically through checks using micrometers, bore and height gages, thread gages, and a CMM. You verify certifications for materials, coatings, and heat treat, and record results clearly in the ERP.
Midday, you walk the line for in-process checks, catching a subtle surface finish issue before it becomes an NCR. Later, you support an internal audit, confirm traceability and part marking, and close the loop on an 8D corrective action with production and engineering.
What you’ll handle
Perform in-process, first article (AS9102), and final inspections for machined components and fluid system assemblies.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, and customer specifications.
Verify dimensions with precision tools: calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, CMM, surface plate, thread gauges, and vision systems.
Review material test reports and special process certifications (heat treat, plating, coatings).Conduct visual inspections for workmanship, surface finish, and aerospace compliance.
Ensure adherence to AS9100 QMS requirements, including lot control, traceability, and part marking.
Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits; generate NCRs and participate in RCCA/8D.Maintain accurate inspection records; verify routers, travelers, and job packets for completeness.
Segregate nonconforming material and maintain clear inspection status.
Drive continuous improvement, lean initiatives, and provide actionable feedback to production and engineering.
