Rail Yard Laborer
This is a hands-on laborer role supporting a rail yard crew with a variety of physically demanding tasks. Duties include shoveling, sweeping, handling materials, using hand tools, and assisting with general site upkeep. While some operation of heavy equipment may be involved, the primary focus is manual labor. Prior experience in rail or aggregate environments is a plus, but not required.
Training will be provided.
Key responsibilities include unloading product from railcars at various company facilities, assisting the plant foreperson with the daily operations and upkeep of the plant, performing necessary equipment maintenance, assisting foreperson and/or crew members as needed, and performing welding and fabrication duties as required. Day to day work may include safe operation of heavy equipment including but not limited to; frontend loader and skid steer loader.
Ability to detect safety hazards and equipment malfunctions and respond accordingly, ability to follow directions, and general understanding of OSHA & MSHA regulations are also required.
Other requirements include displaying a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times, willingness to travel to multiple locations including Kent, Copley, Twinsburg, Alliance, Cleveland and Medina, willingness to work nights and weekends when necessary, strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures, strict adherence to Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies, willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required, and ability to complete a pre-employment drug/alcohol test and a background check.
Schedule:
Must be available for day/afternoon/midnight shifts and weekends as needed.
Compensation: $23/hr+ and $25/day travel reimbursement.
