Ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications and skills:

Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Degree in Elementary Education or equivalent degree
  • Bachelor’s Degree and five years of satisfactory lead teacher experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree and a passing score on (1) Elementary, Multiple Subjects PRAXIS (reading, math, social studies, and science) (2) Principles of Learning & Teaching:
    Grades K‑6 PRAXIS
  • Bachelor’s degree and active OSSE certification or active certification from another state

Additional skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop differentiated lesson plans and use instructional tools to meet the needs of students with learning challenges
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with general education teachers and other service providers to ensure the academic and social growth of students
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate arts curriculum across academic disciplines
  • Dedication to teaching in ways that are interactive, hands‑on, project‑based, and promote self‑discovery and critical thinking
  • Commitment to high academic achievement for all students, and meet the needs of every child in a diverse population
  • Previous experience using data to inform instruction on an ongoing basis
  • Clear understanding of curriculum, instruction, and child development
  • Ability to establish an effective and efficient classroom culture that emphasizes and supports literacy and math across all content areas
  • Ability to nurture students and work collaboratively with families
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work as a member of a team
  • Possess a professional growth mindset that contributes to a community of educators

About the role:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Create a curriculum to teach grade‑level content and skills anchored by authentic and well‑designed lessons.
  • Plan challenging and engaging lessons and experiences designed to help students achieve content and curriculum standards for their grade level. Ensure that lessons have multiple entry points and support structures so that children with different abilities and learning styles are successful.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of student attendance, academic performance (all courses), and behavior incidents.
