These positions provide opportunities to gain valuable experience working with the WI DNR. You'll build your skills handling fish and working with the public on a daily basis. The numerous fish you'll encounter will expand your ability to obtain biological data while improving your identification skills at the same time. Additionally, creel surveys are the best tool that fisheries managers have to monitor recreational harvest.
Incumbents of these positions will learn the intricacies of such surveys and develop skills that can be applied in future fisheries management careers. The positions are responsible for performing creel clerk duties independently or under general supervision. They will interview anglers, identify and measure angler‑caught fish, record data, collate and enter the collected data. They will also provide information to anglers and the public on local fisheries topics and may also prepare written creel reports.
