Trust Relationship Specialist
This role provides general and clerical administrative support to an individual in the trust department and/or the trust department as a group, relieving the team of clerical, administrative and business detail.
Responsibilities- Respond to routine customer and internal account inquiries, performing necessary research and following up in a timely manner.
- Communicate with clients and internal partners regarding account openings, closings, asset transfers, and fees.
- Create and maintain proper account documentation and file account related material according to the prescribed system in a timely manner.
- Process basic Trust transactions in a timely manner.
- Perform basic cash and asset distributions from account closings.
- Perform standard account monitoring and notify leadership when overdrafts or large balances are discovered.
- Adhere to all internal and external regulatory requirements, standards, guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Create and organize PowerPoint presentations and Excel spreadsheets.
- Attend client meetings with Trust Officers.
- This position requires the tracking of time and is eligible for overtime for hours worked in excess of 40 per week under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Accurate typing, spelling and grammar skills.
- Bachelor's degree in a business related field.
- One (1) year of Trust or closely related experience.
- Proficient in computer software systems including word processing, databases and spreadsheets.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Good organizational and customer service skills.
- Good analytical and problem‑solving skills, including attention to detail.
The specialist will support Property Managers in the Natural Resources and Real Estate (NRRE) line of business, which includes Timber, Oil & Gas, and Real Estate assets.
- Set up complex property assets.
- Process and reconcile revenue across multiple NRRE systems.
- Pay expenses and manage specialized insurance and property tax cycles.
- Perform detailed research to resolve account‑level discrepancies.
- Coordinate division orders, lease documentation, environmental reports, annual reviews, inspections, appraisals, and other internal controls.
Strict attention to detail is required due to the volume of transactions, multi‑system accuracy requirements, and NRRE’s regulatory and audit expectations. Administrative duties include managing incoming calls, correspondence, and maintaining audit‑ready documentation according to NRRE retention standards. This position provides support to Property Managers located in Birmingham, AL, and other Regions offices.
