A highly motivated, compassionate, and dedicated individual will assist vulnerable citizens of Texas in accessing food, medical care, cash assistance, and other social services through the Access and Eligibility Services division. The role provides clerical support to Eligibility Operations staff and processes applications, maintains records, and assists clients in completing their applications.
Responsibilities- Provide clerical support services in a service delivery office.
- Process mail, including opening, date‑stamping, sorting, and distributing incoming applications and supporting documents.
- Review applications for required signatures, dates, and supporting documents.
- Log applications and assign complete applications for processing.
- Return incomplete applications to clients and assist with completion as needed.
- Copy and return original documents upon request to clients/customers.
- Respond to client inquiries and requests for assistance.
- Open, date, sort, or distribute mail (incoming/outgoing, reports, documents, printouts).
- Prepare and proofread correspondence, forms, and other documents (letters, memos, travel or purchase vouchers) using a computer and software.
- Communicate on a basic level with others to provide, exchange, or verify information, answer inquiries, and resolve problems or complaints.
- Maintain records, files, or logs (administrative, personnel, contract, correspondence, forms, documents, purchasing, case files, tracking logs). Retrieve and purge as required.
- Batch forms prior to data entry. Assemble materials into packets. Screen, code or correct documents and perform data entry.
- Work occasional overtime, including weekends if required, and in a highly stressful, fast‑paced environment under constant pressure to meet deadlines.
Skills and Abilities

- Knowledge of computer and internet usage.
- Ability to listen to clients, elicit, relate, and evaluate information and interpret terms as needed.
- Ability to complete required work within specified deadlines.
- Ability to read, understand, and apply a variety of interrelated instructions, such as guidelines, regulations, and policies.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish rapport with and relate to clients.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Required: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Preferred: 30 hours credit from an accredited college or university OR one year of customer service work experience.
- Preferred: Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills.
- Preferred: Work experience using a computer for inquiry and data entry.
- Experience working in a professional customer service environment.
