Office Administrator/ Coordinator, PR / Communications
Behind every great team is someone who keeps everything moving.
We’re looking for an Administrative Assistant who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, loves organization, anticipates needs before they’re asked, and isn’t intimidated by juggling multiple priorities—or multiple personalities.
This isn’t your typical administrative role. You’ll serve as a trusted partner to the Chief Communications Officer and support both the Tyler ISD Communications Department and the Tyler ISD Foundation. You’ll serve as a trusted strategic partner to the Chief Communications Officer, helping prioritize work, keep projects on track, and ensure the department operates efficiently.
WHAT YOU’LL DONo two days look alike (and that’s exactly how we like it.)
You’ll:
- Keep calendars, meetings, and projects organized and moving forward.
- Coordinate travel, purchasing, reimbursements, invoices, and budget‑related paperwork.
- Manage office supplies and department logistics.
- Help coordinate district events, Foundation meetings, and special projects.
- Follow up with team members on behalf of the Chief Communications Officer to ensure deadlines are met.
- Run meetings when needed and help keep projects accountable from start to finish.
- Serve as a trusted point of contact for staff, partners, vendors, and community members.
- Handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Be willing to jump in wherever needed because communications rarely has “slow days.”
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is exceptionally organized and detail‑oriented.
- Thinks ahead and solves problems before they become problems.
- Can confidently work with people at every level of the organization.
- Is comfortable keeping multiple projects moving simultaneously.
- Communicates professionally and follows through.
- Can pivot quickly when priorities change without becoming flustered.
- Understands that flexibility isn’t an occasional requirement— it’s part of the job.
- Values teamwork and enjoys being the person others rely on.
- Has the Chief Communications Officer’s back and takes pride in helping the department succeed.
- Maintains complete confidentiality and exercises sound judgment.
If you’re interested, we’re happy to share our knowledge to help you grow! (This isn’t required for the position.)
You’ll have opportunities to learn about:
- Photography
- Videography
- Social media
- Media relations
- Press releases
- Marketing and branding
- School public relations
If you’ve ever wondered what happens behind the scenes of a communications office, this role offers a front‑row seat.
