Millwright Superintendent – Traylor Industrial
Location:
Tyler, Texas, United States.
Employment type:
Full-Time/Regular.
- Supervise and direct operations within assigned discipline or area.
- Direct craft activities, General Foreman, and other teams as assigned.
- Ensure construction operations and subcontractors comply with specifications, schedules, and budget.
- Control costs and maintain profitability.
- Manage safety, quality, and notifications to Project Manager regarding material and equipment needs.
- Work with QA/QC department to assure all quality requirements are met.
- Maintain strong verbal and written communication skills and promote safety to all employees.
- Assist foremen in maintaining a safe workplace.
- Ensure installation sequence avoids obstructions and conflicts with other construction workers.
- Conduct regular inspections of craft work and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Monitor timely delivery of necessary materials and equipment.
- Coordinate with engineers, client/owner, inspectors, etc. to isolate problems and develop solutions.
- Coordinate work activities with other craft supervision to ensure productivity and eliminate field conflicts.
- Prioritize tasks according to job schedule.
- Participate fully in health, safety, quality, and environmental processes.
- Act as ambassador for Traylor Industrial Construction to clients, contractors, and the public.
Industrial construction facility with possible exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Proper personal protective equipment is required for various hazards.
Qualification Guidelines- Experience
- Ten or more years of supervisory experience in industrial construction (petrochemical, power plant, cement plant) or related field.
- Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control, and supervising large groups.
- Skills
- Strong math knowledge and arithmetic skills.
- Excellent interpersonal communication.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Successful completion of Traylor skills assessment tests.
- Education and Certification
- Willingness to complete continued training (NCCER curriculum, third‑party courses, Traylor developed classes).
- Valid driver’s license or other government‑issued identification.
- NCCER Certified Plus in specific craft.
- Capability to serve as NCCER ICTP certified instructor or attend training and teach modules.
- Physical
- Compliance with drug and alcohol abuse policy.
- Ability to pass physical examination; must climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, and stairways; work at elevated heights and confined spaces.
- Carry up to 50 lbs. of tools/materials.
- Work a 10‑hour shift of hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes; extended hours on uneven surfaces.
- Clean shaven and capable of wearing respirator and other PPE.
- Safety/Environment
- Pass applicable site‑specific training; knowledge of refinery/chemical plant hazards.
- Undergo safety/environmental training commensurate with position and location.
- Implement lockout/tagout procedures when required.
- CPR and 1st Aid trained when required.
- Read and understand safety instructions, signs, labels, and permits in English.
