Position Overview

Grace Community School is seeking an outstanding, experienced Middle School and/or High School Theater Arts Teacher to join a well-established Fine Arts program with a legacy of excellence. The ideal candidate is eager to integrate biblical truth into both the content and craft of theater arts instruction and is committed to cultivating artistic excellence within a Christ-centered community. This educator views theater not only as performance, but as a formative discipline that shapes creativity, collaboration, confidence, and character.

This position may be part-time or full-time and reports to campus principals and the Director of Fine Arts.

Position Purpose

The Middle School and/or High School Theater Arts Teacher partners with Grace families to cultivate students who create, perform, design, and lead with excellence and integrity. This role exists to develop students’ artistic skill, technical proficiency, and moral imagination while fostering teamwork, discipline, and courageous expression. Through performance and production, students are equipped to communicate truth beautifully and glorify God through the dramatic arts.

Key Responsibilities
1. Biblical Integration and Classroom Culture
  • Demonstrate a biblical philosophy of education by thoughtfully integrating faith, truth, beauty, and virtue into theater arts instruction and production work.
  • Model Christlike character, humility, creativity, and professionalism while fostering a culture of respect and collaboration.
  • Establish and maintain a disciplined, joyful classroom and rehearsal environment that promotes excellence, accountability, and growth.
2. Instruction and Curriculum
  • Demonstrate mastery of theater arts content, including acting, directing, stagecraft, technical theater, and production design.
  • Design and implement long-range and daily lesson plans aligned with Grace Community School’s Fine Arts curriculum and instructional priorities.
  • Direct and produce middle and/or high school theatrical productions, overseeing rehearsals, auditions, and performances.
  • Provide leadership in technical theater, including lighting, sound, set design, stage management, and equipment stewardship.
  • Utilize varied instructional strategies and assessments to cultivate both artistic skill and reflective growth.
  • Implement prescribed accommodations for students enrolled in the Academic Success Center.
3. Program Leadership and Stewardship
  • Collaborate with the Fine Arts team to maintain and strengthen a cohesive, mission-aligned program.
  • Manage the annual theater budget responsibly and steward resources with integrity.
  • Maintain and care for theater facilities, costumes, technical equipment, and performance spaces.
  • Contribute to the long-term vision and continued excellence of the theater arts program.
4. Community, Communication, and Professional Practices
  • Serve the school community with a joyful, other-centered posture.
  • Shepherd middle and high school students through mentorship, encouragement, and high expectations.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with students, families, and colleagues regarding expectations, rehearsal schedules, and student progress.
  • Leverage instructional technology (Google and Apple platforms, production software, and related tools) to support instruction and production management.
  • Participate in professional development with a commitment to lifelong learning and artistic growth.
Qualifications
  • Commitment to Grace Community School’s mission, values, and biblical worldview.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Theater Education or related field required;
    Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of theater teaching experience preferred.
  • Technical theater experience required.
  • A professed and active Christian faith with a shepherd’s heart for students.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
  • A growth mindset and commitment to continued artistic and professional development.
