Responsibilities

An SP+ Cashier will create an efficient, stress‑free, and enjoyable experience for each customer. Responsibilities include receiving payment for parking services and facilitating traffic flow through the facility.

  • Treat each customer with respect and kindness, ensuring each interaction delivers on the SP+ Promise.
  • Be at work every scheduled day, on time, in uniform, and ready to assist customers.
  • Count the “bank” of revenue at the beginning of each shift to confirm the starting total.
  • Collect cash and/or validations and maintain the security of cash.
  • Make change and issue receipts or tickets for each transaction.
  • Compute or re‑compute the bill from ticket, showing the amount due per customer.
  • Operate the cash register after time calculation, displaying the cost of each transaction.
  • Quote prices for parking services for which money is received upon customer receipt.
  • Give directions to city locations and assist customers in reaching their destinations efficiently.
  • Complete lost‑ticket forms when original tickets cannot be located.
  • Resolve customer complaints quickly and efficiently, requesting supervisor assistance when needed.
  • Answer telephone calls promptly and courteously.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the booth and pick up trash in the surrounding area.
  • Conduct timely checks to verify that necessary work aids and supplies are present in the booth.
  • Verify the log of shift transactions against the “revenue” bank on hand.
  • Compile the “bank” of collected revenue during the day once a predetermined amount has been collected.
  • Record amounts received, cars in/out of the facility, and any cars left in the facility while preparing the shift report of transactions.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications

What you need:

  • Education and/or

    Experience:

    Less than high school education or up to one month of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination.
  • Availability to Work:
    Shift requirements may include 2nd shift, 3rd shift, and/or weekends, depending on the location’s hiring needs.
  • License Requirement: A valid state‑issued driver’s license with a current address and acceptable driving record, if driving a company vehicle is required.
  • Mathematical skills:
    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and to make change.
  • Language skills:
    Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions and to present information effectively to customers and supervisors.
  • Reasoning ability:
    Ability to apply common sense and carry out detailed written or oral instructions in standardized situations.
  • Other skills and abilities:
    Use of a clock, calculator (optional), or credit card machine; pleasant and mannerly telephone demeanor; ability to respond to customer problems or complaints.
  • Physical demands:
    Regular sitting, hand use, reaching, occasional walking; specific vision requirements include close vision.
