Overview
The University of Texas at Tyler invites applicants to apply for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor for Rehabilitation Sciences. The Assistant/Associate Professor will have a 12-month appointment (9+3), including teaching, scholarship, and service and will office at the UT Tyler Health Science Center.
This position will also include an Academic position as a Program Director for the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and is a key educational leader within the School of Health Professions (SHP). The Director oversees coordination and administration of all aspects of the program, including all curriculum and instruction while executing a comprehensive development program with a focus on the School of Health Professions (SHP).
This role will work closely with the appropriate deans, administrators, physicians and staff. The position ensures the successful delivery of the DPT program and maintains the highest standards of program management, execution and student success. The position exercises independent judgment and makes decisions that affect daily operations and communicates with various individuals about curriculum activities and provides oversight of program activities and administration.
The Director will be required to work some weekends or after hours with some travel for workshops, presentations or events.

Responsibilities- Provide leadership as Program Director for the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program and serve as an educational leader within the School of Health Professions.
- Coordinate and administer all aspects of the DPT program, including curriculum and instruction.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive development program with a focus on SHP goals and student success.
- Collaborate with deans, administrators, physicians and staff to ensure high-quality program delivery.
- Oversee program activities and administration and exercise independent judgment in daily operations.
- Communicate effectively about curriculum activities with faculty and stakeholders.
- Be available for some weekend or after-hours work and travel for workshops, presentations or events as required.
- Required
Education / Experience:
Advanced Doctoral degree, entry level physical therapist degree. Six (6) years of teaching experience in an entry level physical therapy education, with three (3) years teaching in a Doctor of Physical Therapy program. - Required Certifications / Licenses: Possess and maintain a PT license with the State of TX. Texas Driver’s License (or receive within 30 days of hire date).

Academic administration experience. - Knowledge: CAPTE accreditation.
