Lecturer/Assistant Professor of Instruction
Full-Time / 40 hours per week.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
Job SummaryThe position will begin Fall 2026. The primary responsibility is to deliver courses in graphic design, including media design production, publication design, web design, and brand identity. The instructor will have a 4‑4 teaching load (four courses in Fall and four in Spring) with the option to teach in the Summer, depending on enrollment. When scheduled to teach in the graduate program during the Summer, the instructor is expected to provide summer teaching for the graduate program.
Required Qualifications- Terminal degree in graphic design or a similar field;
Ph.D. or M.F.A. required. - Commitment to student‑centered teaching excellence, including experience and willingness to teach in face‑to‑face and online asynchronous modalities.
- Promising or established program of research with a specialization in communication, media, and technology.
- Commitment and sensitivity to multi‑faceted and interdisciplinary perspectives on communication, media, and technology.
- Professional experience in graphic design.
- Ability and interest to develop, teach, and assess online asynchronous courses during summer months, including coursework in the graduate program.
The retirement plan for this position is the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. The position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
This position is security‑sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code Section 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by the time of hire.
