The position of Administrative Landman will be in Mewbourne Oil Company’s Tyler, Texas corporate office. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining ownership decks, processing ownership transfers, proposing subsequent operations, drafting assignments, and conducting leasehold acreage reviews. This role works closely with Land, Accounting, and Legal to ensure accurate revenue distribution and compliance.
Key ResponsibilitiesTitle & Ownership Analysis
- Analyze leases, contracts, deeds, assignments, and title opinions to determine ownership.
- Conduct leasehold ownership reviews prior to recompletions, plugging, and acreage trades.
- Identify curative requirements and resolve ownership discrepancies.
Division of Interest & Accounting Coordination
- Set up and maintain division of interest decks.
- Coordinate with Revenue and JIB Accounting to process ownership changes.
- Manage suspense accounts and lead ownership reconciliation efforts.
- Revise decks after payouts and conduct shut-in reviews.
Agreements & Operational Support
- Draft assignments, joint operating agreements, letter agreements, and wellbore farmout agreements.
- Propose workovers and subsequent operations to industry partners.
- Provide guidance to Accounting, Land, and Legal teams on title and ownership matters.
- Working knowledge of title examination and curative practices in New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma.
- Ability to collaborate across departments and communicate complex title matters clearly.
- Proficient in calculating and verifying all ownership interests.
- Excellent judgment in resolving title and payment disputes.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and high accountability.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- 1 to 3 years of landman experience or other industry-related experience.
- A strong understanding of real property and probate laws in New Mexico, Texas, or Oklahoma is preferred.
- Experience using Quorum or similar oil and gas software systems.
