Overview

The Speech Language Pathologist serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team responsible for the identification, assessment, planning, and delivery of services to children with communicative or feeding and swallowing disorders, and delays in development of communication skills.

Community Healthcore Early Childhood Intervention serves children in Gregg, Harrison, Marion, Rusk, Upshur, and Panola counties.

Reports to the Early Childhood Intervention program director.

Positions

Fulltime and parttime positions (with benefits).

Responsibilities
  • Serves as a member of the assessment and/or IFSP team representing the field of Speech Language pathology.
  • Uses appropriate tools and techniques to determine a child's need for speech therapy services as evidenced in the child's comprehensive report.
  • Reports results of evaluations, including clinical judgment, and assist in planning for appropriate services to meet the child's and family's needs.
  • Serves as Speech Language Pathologist on the interdisciplinary team responsible for Speech Language Pathologist therapy services.
  • Provides direct services to children in home and community settings to address the functional needs of the child related to the habilitation, rehabilitation or prevention of communicative or feeding and swallowing disorders or delays in the development of communication skills as evidenced in the IFSP and progress notes.
  • Refers for medical or other professional service necessary to aid in the habilitation, rehabilitation, or prevention of communicative or feeding and swallowing disorders or delays in development of communicative skills in the acquisition of functional skills in the child as evidenced in progress notes.
  • Assists parents, staff and caregivers in adapting the child's environment to facilitate development and to promote the acquisition of functional skills as evidenced in home program and/or the child's IDP.
  • Designs and/or acquire tools and devices for the child to aid in the development of functional skills as evidenced by an assistive technology evaluation and progress notes.
  • Receives necessary information, and documents speech language services to assure that content of case files is accurate and up to date.
  • Assumes duties and responsibilities related to third parties for speech/language services provided.
  • Prepares written reports in a comprehensive manner and in accordance with established professional guidelines.
  • Presents in periodic reviews and evaluations of child/family and program progress with other members of the ECI team.
  • Increases professional knowledge and skills related to job assignment and discipline.
  • Prepares written reports in accordance with established program guidelines.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited or approved institution.
  • A minimum of one-year experience in working with children with developmental delays is preferred.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
  • Licensed as a speech-language pathologist according to regulations set forth by the Texas State Licensure Board.
  • Valid driver's license.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to complete activities necessary to perform services, which includes but is not limited to bending, lifting up to 44 pounds, carrying, crawling, and kneeling.
  • Must be able to tolerate excessive heat and cold.
Travel
  • Local travel
  • Service area includes the following counties:
    Gregg, Harrison, Marion, Rusk, Upshur, and Panola.
Work Environment

Services may be delivered at Community Healthcore's facilities, or in the field (client's residence, daycare, etc.). Hence, noise level, temperature, and other conditions will vary based on location of service.

Salary
  • Based on experience.
