UT Health East Texas Physicians has over 90 primary and specialty care clinics, providing comprehensive medical education and innovative research, and offers residency programs throughout our hospitals and clinics actively training the medical leaders of the future.

• Work under the direct supervision of the assigned physician and manager of the clinic.
• Act independently and in collaboration with medical staff.
• Support the physician in the documentation of clinical activities.
• Ensure information in the patient’s record is sufficient to provide quality care and meet the standards of Joint Commission, Medicare, Medicaid, third‑party payors, and UT Health East Texas.

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Graduate from a medical assisting program, or medical transcription experience.
• BLS certification obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

• Experience working as a medical scribe.
• Experience charting in an EMR.
• Knowledge of medical terminology (i.e., anatomy and physiology).
