• The Orthopedic Technician, under the supervision of a licensed nurse, is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and monitoring traction equipment as ordered by the physician, assisting physicians in application and cutting of casts, transferring and positioning orthopedic patients, assisting nursing staff with daily hygiene needs of orthopedic patients, and assisting with routine vital signs.
• The Orthopedic Technician will be cost‑conscious in the use of supplies and order supplies when necessary or as directed by the nurse in charge.
• The Orthopedic Technician must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served on his or her assigned unit.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year experience as a Patient Care Assistant and/or Orderly recommended.
• Experience with patient care related machines and equipment such as CPMs, traction equipment, SCDs, special beds, and cast saw.
• This is an OSHA category 1 position. Body substance isolation must be practiced.
