Job Title:
Community Health Organizer (Amarillo, Tyler, San Angelo, Victoria, Dallas/Ft Worth)

The Community Health Organizer is responsible for administrative duties, community engagement, curriculum training, and implementation for the Texas A&M Opioid Prevention for K-12 Students (TOPS) program. This grant‑funded position offers a salary commensurate with education and experience.
Responsibilities- Serve as liaison between community and school decision‑makers to build capacity and ensure TOPS program success.
- Coordinate recruitment and engagement events with high schools, middle schools, and community key decision‑makers, including program planning, implementation, and evaluation of health programs.
- Mobilize and engage key decision‑makers in the delivery of TOPS project activities and expand community resources across the service area.
- Collaborate with the Area Team on logistical support for community events, ensuring seamless execution from inception through post‑event activities.
- Provide culturally appropriate support and information on opioid prevention awareness and education.
- Attend routine TOPS program meetings and required training sessions.
- Assist in establishing short‑ and long‑term goals and strategic planning.
- Conduct site visits across area counties to monitor TOPS activities and provide ongoing support to community and school partners.
- Maintain activity logs, perform routine program reporting, and support data collection, analysis, and reporting of program outcomes.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Four years of experience in public/community/external relations, event planning, or related field.
- Certified Community Health Worker (CHW) and/or Community Health Worker Instructor (CHWI) certification preferred.
- Experience providing CHW training sessions.
- Master’s degree in public health, health, or other related field (preferred).
- Fluent in English and Spanish (written and oral).
- Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to multitask and work cooperatively, and sound judgment.
- Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving and/or flying on commercial airlines; may require up to 50% travel.
- Position is security sensitive and requires compliance with state and federal laws, Texas A&M University System policies, and safety requirements.
- May require work beyond normal office hours and/or weekends, and may require up to 50% travel.
