UT Health East Texas EMS/AIR 1 has more than 65 ambulances, three active helicopters and one helicopter in reserve strategically located across the region and emergency teams provide rapid access to care.

Responsibilities
  • Administers care to patient population which ranges from neonates to geriatrics.
  • Works cooperatively and interdependently with emergency, prehospital, law enforcement, and ancillary personnel while coordinating the emergent and critical care of patients requiring helicopter transportation.
  • Markets the Air 1 program and serves as a representative of the department as well as the UT Health East Texas System when involved with a public relations activity and/or marketing activity.
  • Understands and supports the UT Health East Texas Mission, Vision, And Values.
  • Adheres to all hospital policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certificate from an accredited EMT/Paramedic program.
  • Texas EMT‑P certification.
  • National Registry EMT‑P (NREMT‑P).
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
  • Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS).
  • Certified Flight Paramedic Credential (FP‑C) within 6 months of employment. If the Crew member is an RN working in the Paramedic role the CFRN will take the place of the required Certification.
  • PALS.
  • NRP.
  • ACLS.
  • At least three years pre‑hospital experience in a lead paramedic role.
Preferred
  • Previous flight paramedic experience.
