Boyd, Boyd & Giddens is a growing Texas civil litigation defense firm with offices in Tyler and Austin. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Human Resources Manager to serve as the firm’s primary internal HR professional. This position will manage the firm’s day-to-day HR functions while helping develop practical systems that support continued growth.
Responsibilities- Manage recruiting for attorneys, paralegals, and administrative employees
- Coordinate job postings, interviews, offers, and pre-employment requirements
- Oversee onboarding, orientation, employee check-ins, and offboarding
- Administer benefits, leave, enrollment, and employee benefit questions
- Maintain the employee handbook, HR policies, personnel records, and compliance requirements
- Advise managers regarding performance, documentation, coaching, and routine employee-relations matters
- Assist with corrective-action documentation and workplace investigations
- Coordinate performance reviews, employee training, and professional-development programs
- Support workforce planning, employee engagement, retention, and culture initiatives
- Improve HR processes, forms, checklists, and procedures
- Work with outside employment counsel and benefit vendors when needed
- At least five years of broad human resources experience preferred
- Experience independently managing recruiting, onboarding, benefits, employee relations, performance management, and HR compliance
- Strong judgment and discretion when handling confidential matters
- Strong written, verbal, organizational, and follow-through skills
- Ability to work independently and advise employees and managers at all levels
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field preferred
- SHRM or HRCI certification preferred
- Professional-services or multi-office experience is a plus
The ideal candidate is comfortable handling both strategic and routine HR responsibilities. This person should be able to independently evaluate employee and management concerns, prepare recommendations, improve processes, and ensure matters are properly documented and followed through to completion.
