Millwright Superintendent opportunity with Traylor Industrial
ResponsibilitiesThe Superintendent is responsible for supervising and directing operations within assigned discipline or area. The role includes ensuring compliance with specifications, maintaining schedules and budgets, controlling costs, and guaranteeing safety and quality on the project.
- Overall supervision of craft activities, general foremen, and other personnel.
- Implementation of safety, quality, and project management practices.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager on material and equipment needs.
- Maintain communication with QA/QC to ensure all quality requirements are met.
- Conduct regular inspections of craft work and quality, ensuring installation per specification.
- Schedule crews and manage resources for project tasks.
- Monitor and address material delivery and equipment schedules.
- Lead safety meetings and promote a safe workplace.
- Assist in troubleshooting mechanical equipment and developing solutions.
- Coordinate with other craft supervisors to prevent field conflicts.
- Prioritize tasks according to the job schedule.
- Participate fully in health, safety, quality, and environmental processes.
- Act as an ambassador for Traylor Industrial Construction to clients, contractors, and the public.
- Ten or more years of supervisory experience in industrial construction (petrochemical, power plant, cement plant) or a related field.
- Advanced understanding of construction scheduling and cost control.
- Ability to lead and supervise large work groups.
- Strong mathematics skills – addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers and fractions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for managing a diverse team.
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Successful completion of Traylor skills assessment tests.
- Willingness to complete ongoing training (NCCER curriculum, third‑party courses, Traylor developed classes).
- Valid driver’s license or other government‑issued identification.
- Must hold NCCER Certified Plus certification in their specific craft.
- Ability or willingness to serve as an NCCER ICTP certified instructor.
- Compliance with drug and alcohol abuse policy.
- Pass physical examination and pre‑employment testing as required.
- Climbing and maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolding, and stairways.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights and confined spaces.
- Seated carrying capacity of 50 lbs; policy requires assistance for items over 50 lbs.
- Capacity to work a 10‑hour shift in varying temperature extremes and outdoor weather conditions.
- Stand or work extended hours on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel).
- Clean‑shaven and able to wear respirator and other personal protective equipment as required.
- Pass applicable site‑specific training.
- Knowledge of refinery and chemical plant hazards, including sulfuric acid, H2S, HF, and other special PPE requirements.
- Training in lockout/tagout procedures.
- CPR and First‑Aid trained when required.
- Ability to read and understand safety instructions, signs, labels, and permits in English.
