Job Summary
TNAA Total Med RN is currently hiring an Operating Room RN (OR) for a 13‑week, 40‑hour/ week assignment in Tyler, TX. The travel nursing role requires an RN with 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience, preferably as a circulating or scrub nurse, with potential qualification as RN First Assistant.

- Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients.
- Provide pre‑ and post‑surgery care and education to patients.
- Serve as the communication liaison between patients’ family members and the operating team.
- Ensure the correct procedure is performed on the correct patient.
- Initiate patient education plans as prescribed by physician; teach patients and families medication and home‑care needs.
- Perform basic bedside care.
- Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication; report any adverse reactions.
- Respond to comfort and safety needs of the patient.
- Accurate care and handling of specimens.
- Monitor equipment used during surgery.
- Inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
- Selection and handling of surgical instruments and supplies during procedures.

- Assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care.
- Help control bleeding.
- Suture patients following surgery.
- Stand and walk for long periods of time; bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty.
- Lift up to 20 pounds easily; occasionally lift patients up to 50 pounds.
- May be exposed to certain chemicals or infectious diseases in the operating room environment.
- BLS certification required.
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
- Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.
Pay package is based on 10‑hour shifts at 40 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
