Texas Oncology is looking for an Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position supports the Tyler location in the Infusion and Medical Oncology departments. This is a full-time position with typical hours Monday–Friday (8:30am–5:00pm) and no weekends, call, or major holidays.

The LTIP is an incentive program that typically vests over a three-year period and is tied to individual performance and the operational success of Texas Oncology. Awards are discretionary and based on position, performance, and potential for future growth. Awards are reviewed and approved during the annual compensation review. LTIP awards require continued employment through the award payment date and are governed by the LTIP document.

Under minimal supervision, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for patients in accordance with national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental differences across the patient population, including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to assess and manage patient/family needs. Adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

• Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
• Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and instructional materials.
• Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
• Administer all medications and blood products with correct medication/blood product, dosage, route, time, and technique.
• Ensure pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable.
• Facilitate dose modification by assessing the patient and labs, consulting the protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting the physician regarding dosage modifications and symptom management.
• Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central line/catheter devices.
• Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.
• Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.

The ideal candidate will have the following background and experience:

Level I

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• RN license and current registration with the state Board of Nursing.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Must maintain continuing education requirements.
• Entry level – 0–3 years nursing experience; oncology experience strongly preferred (minimum 1 year nursing experience; Oncology infusion experience preferred).
• Oncology certification and Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Infusion certification preferred.

Level II

• Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience; oncology experience strongly preferred.

Level Senior

• Minimum five (5) years nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology preferred.
• Oncology certification preferred.
