Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry position at a cardiac-focused hospital unit in Tyler, TX, requiring at least 2 years of experience and Epic proficiency.

Details
  • 13-week contract with day shift hours (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, 3x12-hour shifts)
  • 36-bed private room unit (5 North) specializing in cardiac care and cardiac intervention recovery
  • Patient population ranges from young adults to geriatric patients with a focus on medical-level cardiac care
  • Priority admissions include post-cardiac surgery, coronary artery stent placement, pacemaker implant, and hemodynamically stable non-procedural cardiac patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:5-6
  • Epic EMR — experience required
  • No on-call requirements specified; unit-based telemetry monitoring performed onsite
Requirements
  • Active TX RN license or compact RN license currently in hand (license hits not accepted)
  • Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS; NIHSS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Required skills include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, blood product administration, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Required cardiac skills include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, heparin protocol management, vasoactive drip management (no titration), PCA management, post cardiac angiogram/cath care, post-MI care, and pre/post cardiac surgery care
  • Proficiency with non-invasive airway management including nasal cannula, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), and oxygen administration
  • Additional required skills include isolation precautions/PPE, wound care, IV insulin protocols, and renal failure management
  • 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Candidates must not reside in the following Texas counties to be eligible:
    Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible
  • Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • No travel pairs or groups accepted
  • RTO must be disclosed at the time of consideration; no RTO will be approved during the first week of orientation, and no more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved for the contract
  • Orientation modules are completed onsite and average 4–6 hours for RNs
  • Preferred skills include accessing/managing ports, arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, tracheostomy care, sheath removal, and pre/post hemodialysis management
