Description

American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry RN for a night shift cardiac unit requiring prior travel experience and TX or compact RN licensure.

Details
  • Work on a 36 private-room Telemetry unit serving young adult through geriatric patients
  • Priority admission given to patients requiring medical cardiac care and recovering from cardiac interventions such as cardiac surgery, coronary artery stent placement, and pacemaker implant
  • Also admits hemodynamically stable non-procedural cardiac patients
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • Patient ratio of 1:5-6
  • Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
  • Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Minimum 1.5-2 years of RN experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Certifications required: BLS and NIHSS; ACLS also required
  • Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of rapid response/code teams
  • Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization, pre/post cardiac surgery, post cardiac angiogram, and post MI care
  • Experience with heparin protocols and management of vasoactive drips (no titration)
  • Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
  • Experience with renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis management preferred
  • Experience with sheath removal, arterial line management, port accessing/management, and BiPAP/CPAP management preferred
Additional Information
  • Provide telemetry-level nursing care to a cardiac patient population, including monitoring for dysrhythmias and responding to emergencies
  • Complete core onboarding items and labs within 48 hours of contract signing
  • Complete required onsite orientation modules (approximately 4-6 hours for RNs)
  • Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties will not be considered
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility will not be considered
  • Former staff members must wait one year before returning as a traveler
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at time of consideration, with no more than 3 days auto-approved and none during the first week of orientation
  • Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
  • First-time travelers may be considered if minimum experience requirements are met
