American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN with prior travel experience for a night-shift renal/urological unit requiring a TX or compact license.
Details- Work in a medical-surgical unit with telemetry capabilities focused on renal and urological diagnoses
- Care for patients post prostate surgery, renal stones, and bladder/kidney surgeries, ranging from young adults to geriatrics
- Unit may also receive general medical-surgical and telemetry overflow admissions
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:00)
- Weekend shifts required
- Float required to units of equal or lesser acuity
- Uses Epic charting system
- Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Experience with 3-way catheter irrigations, bladder scans, and incontinence procedures preferred
- Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line blood draws, and PICC line management
- Experience managing colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tubes
- Experience administering medications including Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
- Respiratory care skills including HFNC, nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
- Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experience with isolation precautions, PPE, and wound care/wound vac
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Provide direct care for renal and urological surgical patients, including telemetry monitoring and post-surgical management
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
- Travelers residing in specific nearby Texas counties are not eligible for this position
- Previous staff must wait at least one year before returning as a traveler
- No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
