Travel RN - Med​/Surg

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN with prior travel experience for a night-shift renal/urological unit requiring a TX or compact license.

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Experience with 3-way catheter irrigations, bladder scans, and incontinence procedures preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line blood draws, and PICC line management
• Experience managing colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tubes
• Experience administering medications including Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
• Respiratory care skills including HFNC, nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with isolation precautions, PPE, and wound care/wound vac
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred

• Work in a medical-surgical unit with telemetry capabilities focused on renal and urological diagnoses
• Care for patients post prostate surgery, renal stones, and bladder/kidney surgeries, ranging from young adults to geriatrics
• Unit may also receive general medical-surgical and telemetry overflow admissions
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:00)
• Weekend shifts required
• Float required to units of equal or lesser acuity
• Uses Epic charting system
• Provide direct care for renal and urological surgical patients, including telemetry monitoring and post-surgical management
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Travelers residing in specific nearby Texas counties are not eligible for this position
• Previous staff must wait at least one year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
