Route Sales
The primary responsibility of this position is selling the Company’s products and providing high-quality service to customers. The candidate will solicit new prospects and persuade existing customers to increase purchases or buy new products.
EssentialJob Duties
- Sollicit daily new and existing customers and promote and sell the Company’s products.
- Develop relationships with and provide service to existing customers to ensure retention and loyalty.
- Identify potential new customers and solicit business from them.
- Be familiar with the Company’s product literature and effectively convey product information and availability to customers.
- Attend regular sales training meetings to review performance and discuss goals.
- Provide exemplary customer service.
- Operate Company vehicle safely, with a valid driver’s license.
- Deliver/install products, verify deliveries, and obtain customer signatures confirming accuracy.
- Protect company assets by safely handling products delivered and collecting payments.
- Comply with FMCSA rules, company policies and safety regulations.
- Manage daily route independently for accurate and timely delivery.
- Maintain personal safety and safety of others by using safe precautions and tools.
Supervisory responsibilities:
Not responsible for supervising employees.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Previous sales‑related experience.
- Six or more months of driving/delivery experience.
- Must qualify for Corporate insurance programs, including vehicle insurance.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Two or more years of sales experience.
- Some business‑related college coursework.
- Basic arithmetic in all units of measure.
- Frequent use of Outlook, Word, Excel, and basic graphics software.
- Moderately complex oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to train others in functional areas and present to department or middle management.
- Routine problem‑solving following clear directions and procedures.
- Decision making limited to own job or functional area.
- Simultaneous handling of multiple tasks or projects with moderate complexity.
While performing duties, the employee is required to drive a vehicle most of the time. Must sit and drive for extended periods (up to 12 hours); use hands to operate machinery. May need to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, reach, climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch for prolonged periods. Frequent exposure to fuel or exhaust, possible use of personal protective equipment, cramped spaces, extreme temperatures, lighting, and noise levels.
Daily travel and overnight travel may be required. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
