Collision Body Technician
Position Title: Collision Body Technician
Location: Hall Collision Center
Department: Collision Repair
Reports To: Body Shop Director
Job Summary:The Collision Body Technician is responsible for repairing and restoring vehicles that have been damaged in accidents. This role involves assessing vehicle damage, performing repairs to body and frame structures, and ensuring all work meets the quality standards of the dealership and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:- Damage Assessment: Evaluate the extent of vehicle damage by inspecting body parts, frames, and related systems. Prepare estimates for repair costs and timelines.
- Repair and Replacement: Remove, repair, or replace damaged body components, such as hoods, doors, fenders, and bumpers. Perform welding, painting, and refinishing work as needed.
- Frame Straightening: Use frame machines and other equipment to align and straighten vehicle frames to meet manufacturer specifications.
- Quality Control: Inspect completed repairs for quality and accuracy, ensuring all work is completed per dealership standards and manufacturer guidelines.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of repairs performed, parts used, and labor hours. Complete necessary paperwork for warranty and insurance claims.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the estimators, other technicians, and management to ensure timely completion of repairs.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols to maintain a safe and efficient work environment. Keep the work area clean and organized.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in automotive body repair preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Collision Body Technician or similar role in an automotive repair environment.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., I-CAR, ASE) are a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of automotive body repair techniques and materials.
- Proficient in operating hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and repair orders.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment (up to [X lbs]), stand for extended periods, and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Comfortability working in different conditions (inside and outside) and exposure to paint fumes, noise, and other hazards common in a body shop.
