Total Safety is looking for a Fire Technician III to join their safety conscious team! The Fire Technician III provides service inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair for fire equipment which typically includes but is not limited to portable and semi‑portable fire extinguishers, lifesaving equipment, fire and gas detection systems, foam systems, dry chemical systems, navigational aids, gaseous suppression systems, and water‑based fire protection systems.
Responsibilities- Perform shop service and/or field inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire equipment, including customer portable and fixed fire extinguisher systems, lifesaving and navigation aid equipment, fire detection and alarm system components, fixed gas detection systems, foam, dry chemical, and gaseous fire suppression systems.
- Complete all documentation associated with inspection and repair, obtain customer signature, and provide accurate invoicing details.
- Conduct detailed visual inspections and system functional tests to identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare pre‑job, job update, and post‑job completion briefs.
- Train customers and less experienced technicians.
- Assist in facility operations, including stocking shelves, staging, and loading customer orders onto delivery trucks.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area and perform basic maintenance of assigned vehicle and/or trailer.
- Operate electronic safety and communications systems such as portable gas monitors and hand‑held radios.
- Rig and use a wide range of safety equipment including retractable lifelines, harnesses, and lanyards.
- Knowledge of all regulatory standards (State, OSHA, NFPA, CFR, Coast Guard, ABS) related to responsibilities.
- Proficient in care and use of all required PPE; trained in Respiratory Protection and fit‑tested.
- Valid driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance; safe driving record.
- Forklift experience preferred; internal forklift certification required if applicable.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites for short and long‑term projects, including offshore assignments.
- Ability to obtain TWIC card and pass necessary safety training (Basic Plus, OSHA 10‑hour, etc.).
- State Fire Licenses (if required) or NICET Level II certification in three disciplines of fire protection, or NICET Level III in two disciplines, prior to performing work in those areas.
- High School diploma or GED and at least three (3) years of field experience in fire protection, petrochemical, oil refinery, or related industry.
- Associate degree in science or technical area strongly preferred.
