Underground HDD Operator - Lufkin, TX

Responsibilities

• Operate light and heavy duty equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and daily visual inspections of equipment and vehicles.
• Maintain a safe working environment and keep trucks & equipment clean.
• Prepare trucks and materials for jobs; initiate purchase orders for parts and machines.
• Load and unload trucks; inspect truck equipment, including tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water, and request repairs as needed.
• Perform emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs and tire chains, and positioning blocks & tying rope to secure cargo.
• Ensure all necessary documents (registration, inspection, insurance cards) are current in the truck.
• Follow directions from crew leaders & supervisors; assist in hand digging and related labor as required.

• Class A CDL and required certifications (Confined Space/Excavation/CPR, Competent Person Training).
• Proficiency in use of equipment and ability to perform minor repairs.
• Strong communication skills with crew members.
• Mathematical reasoning ability and basic computer skills.
• Physical ability to lift, push, or carry up to 50 lbs, and perform work in varying temperature conditions.

• Ability to safely excavate and bore near existing utilities.
• Capability to handle emergencies and perform roadside repairs.

This position requires the ability to lift, push, or carry heavy loads, maintain standing positions for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions. The individual must meet the physical demands described in the job.
