Job Description:
Apprentice Electrician
Pay Range: $18-$21
Position Summary
The Apprentice Electrician (E2) performs entry-level electrical installation tasks under the direct supervision of licensed electricians and field leadership whileparticipatingin an approved apprenticeship program. This role focuses on developing foundational electrical skills, safety awareness, and code knowledge while supporting project execution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with installation of electrical systemsin accordance with drawings and instructions
- Pull wire and cable through conduit and cable trays
- Install electrical boxes, supports, hangers, and basic conduit systems
- Assist with mounting and assembling electrical equipment
- Use hand and power tools safely and properly
- Follow job hazard analyses (JHAs), work permits, and lockout/tagout procedures
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
- Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings
- Report hazards, near misses, and incidents immediately
- Support journeymen andforemenwith daily tasks
- Perform other duties as assigned within scope of training
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Enrollment in an approved electrical apprenticeship program (state, union, or company-sponsored)
- Basic math skills, including measurements and simple calculations
- Ability to read and follow basic drawings and instructions
- Strong willingness to learn and accept direction
Required Certifications and Training
- OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety (required)
- Jobsite-specific safety orientation
- First Aid / CPR (preferred)
- Apprentice classroom training (Year 1 or equivalent)
Tools & Equipment
- Apprentice Electrician must provide andmaintaintheir own basic hand tools customary to the electrical trade
- All hand tools must be in safe working condition andcomply with company and jobsite safety requirements
Experience
- 6 months to 1 year of construction or electrical-related experience preferred
- Prior experience as an Electrical Helper is beneficial but not required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work overhead for extended periods
- Ability to work from ladders, scaffolds, and elevated work platforms
- Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, or confined environments
- Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, FR clothing, and fall protection
- Industrial and commercial construction jobsites
- Exposure to energized equipment (under supervision), moving machinery, and varying weather conditions
- Work hours may include nights, weekends, and overtime as required
Supervision
- Works under direct supervision of a licensed Journeyman Electrician, Foreman, or Supervisor
Safety Expectations
- Follow all company and site safety policies and procedures
- Activelyparticipatein safety meetings and training
- Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions exist
- Maintain a proactive approach to hazard identification and prevention
Successful performance in this role supports advancement to higher apprentice levels(E3 and E4) based on skill development, safety performance, completion of apprenticeship requirements, and company needs.
