- Lead Electrician(E6)

Pay Range: $30 - $32

Position Summary

The Senior Journeyman / Lead Electrician (E6) provides advanced technicalexpertiseand on-site leadership while performing skilled electrical work. This role leads small crews, supports foremen, and ensures electrical installations are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes, project specifications, and company standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform complex electrical installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Lead and coordinate daily work activities for small crews of electricians and apprentices
  • Plan work tasks in coordination with theforemanand project leadership
  • Read, interpret, and apply electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications
  • Oversee conduit installation, wire pulling, terminations, and equipment hookups
  • Perform testing, inspections, and commissioning activities as required
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, local codes, and project requirements
  • Mentor, train, and evaluate apprentice and junior electricians
  • Monitor work quality and productivity and address deficiencies promptly
  • Identify material needs, design conflicts, and safety concerns and communicate them to supervision
  • Participate in job hazard analyses (JHAs), permits, and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Enforce company and site safety policies
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and required training
  • Report hazards, near misses, and incidents immediately
  • Perform other duties as assigned consistent with skill level

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • State-issued Journeyman Electrician license (where applicable)
  • Operational understanding and working knowledge of the current NECcode and industry best practices
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and advanced technical competency
  • Ability to plan and lead work whileremaininghands-on
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Required Certifications and Training

  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety
  • NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety)
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) training
  • First Aid / CPR (preferred)
  • Leadership or supervisory training (preferred)
  • Jobsite-specific and equipment-specific training as required

Arc Flash Awareness Training

Tools & Equipment

  • Must provide andmaintaintheir own basic hand tools customary to the electrical trade
  • All hand tools must be in safe working condition andcomply with company and jobsite safety requirements

Experience

  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship program
  • Typically 6+ years of progressive electrical trade experience

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work overhead for extended periods
  • Ability to work from ladders, scaffolds, and elevated work platforms
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, or confined environments
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, FR clothing, and fall protection
  • Industrial and commercial construction jobsites
  • Exposure to energized electrical systems, moving machinery, and varying weather conditions
  • Work hours may include nights, weekends, and overtime as required

Supervision

  • Works with minimal supervision
  • Provides direct guidance and leadership to apprentices and electricians

Safety Expectations

  • Lead by example in safe work practices and hazard awareness
  • Enforce company and site safety policies and procedures
  • Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions exist
  • Demonstrate accountability for crew and personal safety

Successful performance in this role supports advancement to Electrical Foreman (E7) based on leadership capability, safety performance, project execution, and company needs.
