The Shop Foremanis responsible forthe daily organization, maintenance, and operational readiness of the company’s shop, yard, tools, trailers, and vehicles. This position plays a critical role in supporting field operations by ensuring equipment is safe, functional, properly staged, and available when needed. The Shop Foreman is accountable for asset control, safety, and overall operational efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Tool & Asset Management

  • Ensure all tools are properly logged in and out of the tool lock-up.
  • Maintainaccuraterecords of tool usage, condition, and repairs.
  • Repair or troubleshoot tools as needed and coordinate outside service or replacement when required.
  • Maintain accountability for company-owned tools, equipment, trailers, and vehicles.
  • Report damaged, missing, or unsafe equipmentimmediatelyto management.
  • Prepare trailers for job sites by loading required tools, equipment, and materials.

Shop & Yard Operations

  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of the shop, yard, and surrounding facility.
  • Perform routine facility maintenance including trash removal, shop floor cleanliness, yard mowing, and general upkeep.
  • Keep the shop and yard organized to support efficient operations.
  • Assist with shop fabrication projects and special operational tasks as needed.
  • May direct orassistshop laborers or field personnel assigned to the shop or yard.

Vehicle & Trailer Maintenance

  • Perform routine inspections and light maintenance on company trucks and trailers, including lights, wipers, fluid levels, tire condition , and interior cleanliness.
  • Wash trucks and trailers as needed.
  • Transport vehicles and trailers for oil changes, tire rotations, inspections, and other required services.
  • Maintain an up-to-date log of truck and trailer locations and service status.

Logistics& Field Support

  • Pick up parts, materials, and supplies as needed.
  • Travel to job sites to deliver or retrieve tools, equipment, or trailers;may require towing gooseneck or bumper-pull trailers.
  • Coordinate with field supervisors and management toanticipatejob needs and stage equipment accordingly.
  • Directly support field productivity by ensuring crews have the right tools and equipment at the right time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the scope of the position.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and tool knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Required Certifications and Training

  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Forklift certification (preferred or ability to obtain).
  • Jobsite- or company-required safety training.
  • CDL (Class A or

    B) is a plus but not required.

Tools & Equipment

  • Shop Foreman must be capable of safely using hand and power tools customary to shop and equipment maintenance operations.
  • Ability tooperateforklifts, lawn equipment, and similar machinery.
  • All tools and equipment must be used in compliance with company and safety requirements.

Experience

  • Prior experience in a construction shop, equipment yard, fleet, or similar operational environment preferred.
  • Experience with trailers, vehicles, and construction equipment strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work for extended periods.
  • Ability to work from ladders or at heights as required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safelyoperatevehicles towing gooseneck or bumper-pull trailers.
  • Shop, yard, and construction jobsite environments.
  • Exposure to moving equipment, vehicles, tools, and varying weather conditions.
  • Work hours may include early mornings, overtime, or weekends asrequiredto support operations.

Supervision

  • Works under the general supervision ofsafety Coordinator.
  • May provide direction to shop laborers or personnel assigned to shop or yard duties.

Safety Expectations

  • Comply withall company safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and yard environment.
  • Use stop-work authority when unsafe conditions exist.
  • Report all incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Maintain a zero-tolerance approach to unsafe acts.
