Responsibilities
  • Assemble, repair, deliver/pickup, and install equipment, furniture, and other business supplies.
  • Receive, sign for, inspect packages in the mail room or warehouse and deliver to appropriate personnel at HHS offices.
  • Process and distribute document service/copy requests.
  • Sort and distribute mail to various HHS office locations within the region.
  • Drive and inspect agency vehicles, maintain vehicle maintenance logs, perform minor vehicle repairs, and ensure proper maintenance and operating condition.
  • Order and maintain adequate inventory of supplies needed for mail and copy services.
  • Perform warehouse duties including tracking inventory, operating motorized equipment for moving and storing items, and maintaining surplus state property.
  • Assist with office moves and complete minor building repairs and routine maintenance.
  • Oversee and direct activities of contractors and vendors for moves and modular furniture installation.
  • Serve on the Regional Disaster Deployment Team by delivering and setting up emergency equipment and supplies.
  • Use the Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) system and CAPPS Financial module for documentation.
Essential Job Functions
  • Attend work on a regular schedule and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Drive state agency trucks and cargo vans to deliver and pick up large items such as furniture, IT equipment, and surplus state property.
  • Evaluate multiple delivery locations to determine the most cost‑effective and time‑saving route.
  • Perform minor vehicle repairs such as flat‑tire changes.
  • Monitor vehicle maintenance records and submit monthly vehicle reports.
  • Train and coach new hires on safety practices and state vehicle usage.
  • Perform shipping and receiving duties in the warehouse and regional mailroom.
  • Identify recipients of warehouse/mailroom packages and arrange routing and delivery.
  • Research misrouted mail to determine appropriate recipient.
  • Process outgoing mail and shipping of packages, determine shipping method, weigh, affix postage, and arrange pickups.
  • Maintain records on postage, packages, and mail matters.
  • Operate forklift, dollies, pallet jacks, power lifts, and golf carts to move and store large items.
  • Monitor stock levels and advise manager when reorders are needed.
  • Assemble and install furniture and equipment.
  • Assist in office moves and oversee contractors for moves.
  • Assist in the regional Quick Copy center with printing, copying, and delivery of documents.
  • Work extended hours and in a variety of environments.
Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications
  • Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of motor vehicle operations and basic maintenance.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal traffic rules and regulations for cargo and mail delivery.
  • Knowledge of warehousing procedures, including safe use of motorized equipment.
  • Skill in operating motor vehicles including panel trucks and cargo vans, with or without a trailer.
  • Skill in managing multiple priorities.
  • Skill in using standard agency computer hardware and software such as Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to obey State and Federal traffic laws and follow safe practices in loading and unloading cargo.
  • Ability to prepare accurate records documenting vehicle maintenance, mileage, and usage.
  • Ability to operate specialized equipment such as a postage meter, copier equipment, bindery equipment, or similar.
  • Ability to understand and utilize documentation systems such as CAPPS and CAFM.
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as forklift, pallet jack, dolly.
  • Ability to lift, pull, push, and/or carry 50 pounds.
